Peter Hessey

Peter Hessey joined Strategy Regeneration in 2006 where he is now Chairman of the board. He has worked with Blue Ocean Strategy and the tools of Value Innovation since 2000.

Most recently Peter accepted a role as Interim Group HR Director at Friends Life (September 10 – June 11) as Resolution Plc brings together three businesses – Friends Provident; AXA (UK) Life & Pensions and Bupa Health Assurances – prior to an expected IPO at the end of 2013Peter is an experienced HR & Communications Executive who has held senior executive roles across the UK Financial services sector. His most recent corporate experience ,in a permanent capacity, spans 10 years with Aviva plc (through the various legacy businesses) – joining General Accident in 1996 as Group HR Director – he then played a leading role in the merger between General Accident and Commercial Union (creating CGU) running the Central Integration Team (98-00) before becoming HR Director on the Board of Norwich Union Life (00-05) – the largest Life & pensions business in the UK – when CGU and Norwich Union merged (initially CGNU and then Aviva). He led the HR function and Internal Communications as the business went through major change and integration activities including off shoring; site rationalisation and multiple restructures.

At the beginning of 2005 he moved to take on the role of Group Talent Director for Aviva where he developed, implemented and managed the world wide Aviva Leadership Academy alongside his responsibility for the broader talent agenda.

His corporate experience prior to Aviva includes – HR Director at American Express (79-87); HR Director at The Mortgage Corporation (87-92); HR Director at Hill Samuel (92-94) and then at the parent TSB Group he was Director of HR Strategy & Employee relations working through the merger with Lloyds Bank leading on all Internal communications, Employee relations and the harmonisation of terms & conditions.

Peter is on the Faculty of CEDEP – European Centre for Executive Development founded in 1970 in association with INSEAD. He has a degree in Psychology; a postgraduate qualification in Management Studies and is a member of a number of professional bodies (including British Psychology Institute; Personnel & Development Institute).
